Day 19: 2020-10-30 masking the reflection

Image
Day 19: 2020-10-30 masking the reflection Today I spent my time masking my reflection frame by frame to make it look like my reflection is above the reflection. Here you can see the reflection is above my body (on my left arm) so I am trying to mask it frame by frame to get rid of the reflection at the parts it is on top of my body. Here is what It should look like when complete I have worked on the main mirror reflection for the first part of the class and I have finished that scene For next class I will continue working on the window reflection, then continue to look for other errors around the film.

Day 18: 2020-10-29 the start of the living room mirror

Image
Day 18: 2020-10-29 the start of the living room mirror    Today I finished the scene with the walking reflection and I have now started with using the rotoscope tool for the living room mirror scene before that scene. Here I have started using the rotoscope tool to get rid of everything inside the mirror and when I finish that I will replace the mirror with a still image. Here is the final editing scene in premiere and what all the clips will look like when it is done. Here is the final editing of the reflection walking scene, I have left this scene finished with multiple errors that I have left including slight brightness errors and my clothe getting cut off and more. If I finish this movie with more time left of the semester I might go back to this scene and fix more of the errors. Tomorrow I will be continuing getting rid of my reflection in the mirror.

Day 17: 2020-10-28 continuing with the mirror

Image
Day 17: 2020-10-28 continuing with the mirror Today I continued to work on getting rid of the background of the mirror and replacing it with my reflection walking in the background. It took me all class today as I am going by every few frames, I am now 3/4 done that scene (including working on the brightness difference). This is where I lift off at the end of class, I now need to find out which layer is causing this lighting issue on the bottom left of the scene. In this scene there is around 6 layers overlapping each other all with different lighting and certain parts cut out just to hide the brightness problem. Here is a frame of the cutting the edges. The hardest part besides my face with making sure the top line is at the exacts position as if its to high you will easily notice a very dark like and if its to low you will see a bright line, I have to make sure it reaches the middle so there is no lighting difference. I have finally finished the right side of the mirror and I am...

Day 16: 2020-10-27 trying it different

Image
Day 16: 2020-10-27 trying it different Today I continued to use the rotoscope tool to get rid of the backgrounds of the mirror scene but with so much detail in the mirrors I have failed to do that, The solution to this problem is to use premiere and track each frame and just delete it and so far this solution is working. Here is the tracking each frame from premiere to get rid of the left side of the mirror and gonna replace it with a still image of the background without my reflection in it. This was probably 25 minutes in, in after effect when tracking the rotoscope tool froze the program and exited it without saving. This is premiere now tracking the right side of the mirror and getting rid of the background and replacing it with my reflection walking. It is working well so far but it is a long process. Tomorrow I will continue using premiere to capture each frame.

Day 15: 2020-10-26 the living room mirror

Image
Day 15: 2020-10-26 the living room mirror Today I was using after effect and using the rotoscope tool on one of the final mirror scene where I am looking in the mirror and I do not see a reflection but then my reflection starts walking as what it looks behind me. This is what I am getting rid of (the black). The black part that you see is my reflection I am using the rotoscope tool to get rid of. Here is the rotoscope tool getting rid of everything except my reflection free walking in the background. This is a main problem I have which is something I didnt realize when editing this is that my reflection is infront of everything because I didnt get rid of the right side of the mirror. To fix this problem I am using the rotoscope tool to get rid of the right side of the mirror. Here is the process of the reflection I am trying to get rid of. As you can see this is a rough copy as you can see parts of my reflection hand still showing and my left side of my body is very sharp. Another...

day 14: 2020-10-22 rotoscope tool

Image
day 14: 2020-10-22 rotoscope tool Today I spent all class working on the rotoscope tool in after effect, I managed to finish a mirror scene and also starting other mirror scenes. In this scene I attempted to use in the rotoscope in after effect but after every frame resets because there is nothing moving for the camera to focus on the rotoscope tool resets every frame when it should stay the same. I have finished this tool in premiere but after using premiere there is a brightness difference which I will be fixing in adobe lightroom later on. Here is the completed scene with the reflection looking at me. What I did is used the rotoscope tool on 2 different scenes, 1 with me walking, I deleted everything but me walking. Then I used the rotoscope tool to delete everything except my reflection. Then I used a still image the wall and mirror and moved that to the bottom with the 2 walking scenes above it This is what I will be fixing tomorrow class on monday, I will be using after effe...

Day 13: 2020-10-21 the final mirror scene

Image
Day 13: 2020-10-21 the final mirror scene Today I spent my day working on the final mirror scene where I pass the last mirror and my reflection looks at me well im walking straight. Here is the rotoscope tool getting rid of everything but my reflection. Here is the rendering of it (this time it did not freeze the computer) here is the rendering of only me without the reflection (sadly I accidently deleted this scene and I will have to do that again tomorrow) Tomorrow I will try to do the reflection rendering again with the rotoscope tool.

Day 12: 2020-10-20 after effect rotoscope

Image
Day 12: 2020-10-20 after effect rotoscope Today I was able to crop everything except by body to have the mirror behind me, I have done this using the rotoscope tool in after effect, I also fixed some color in some scenes but I spent most of todays class working in after effect. In this picture I figured out how to crop everything but my body. I am walking down the hallway passing multiple mirrors. How I filmed this scene is me walking down the hallway with no mirrors then I would add the mirrors in separately so you dont see the reflection through the mirror.   here is the scene with the mirror in the background (my body is now on its own scene). Before editing the mirror would show above me instead of behind me and after attempting to fix it in premiere working in after effect for this tool is much easier.                                After effect froze around 5-7 times when edit...

Day 11: 2020-10-19 opacity masking

Image
Day 11: 2020-10-19 opacity masking Today I spent all class masking frame by frame by body walking past the hallway with the mirror behind me. I am still half done the masking and should be done it by tomorrow. Either tomorrow or the next day I will be taking a class off of my horror film and be working on tutorials on how to work in after effect as today without taking any tutorials it was too hard and I kept getting errors and the scenes would stop working (so I had to work in premiere which is the opacity masking) Is this picture is me attempting to mask my body in premiere, I am trying to make a mirror show up of the left behind my body. before I walk behind the mirror and the mirror is in front of me. Here is the same thing as the first picture but I am trying to mask the mirror behind me in after effect. After I dont know how to use after effect for what I am trying to do I failed. Tomorrow I will try to finish the opacity masking and then without any quick edits I need to do...

Day 10: 2020-10-15 making notes

Image
Day 10: 2020-10-15 making notes     Today I was making notes under the scenes to remind me which clips need editing and what type of editing. I am Starting to work in after effect but after it is my first time using it, it easily get complicated. I will be watching tutorials and other videos to show me how to use them. In this scene I am missing the left clip from a few weeks ago when I encountered that error, this clip is still missing but to fix this I can look in my camera sd card to recover this scene. In this scene I get scared but the reflection and I open the door and walk out, my reflection is watching me open the door and leaving as the door in the mirror is opening and closing by itself. In this scene I am adding the mirrors on the wall, the left mirror is the only problem as it is above my body for a few seconds. To fix this problem I will be using after effect and track my body and add the mirror under it. In this scene I am walking to the bathroom and then t...

Day 9: 2020-10-14 finished combining in premiere

Image
Day 9: 2020-10-14 finished combining in premiere          I have just finished putting all the scenes together in Adobe premiere, tomorrow I will be finalizing the clips and making sure they are ready to be exported into After effect, and will probably export them the class after tomorrow.  In this clip I had to get rid of everything but the mirror, making it look like its only my reflection moving in the scene. 1 problem I had is the brightness difference. To solve this problem I will be darkening the top 2 scenes to match the bottom one. In this scene I am trying to make it look like that I am looking into the reflection to see nothing, but then my reflection is looking like it is out of the mirror walking behind me. This scene is hard to do in premiere, so I will try to do this scene in after effect. I am also removing my real reflection you can see on the bottom left of the mirror. In this scene, my reflection is escaping from the mirror as I am t...

Day 8: 2020-10-8 past half way of combining

Image
Day 8: 2020-10-8 past half way of combining     Today I did more than I expected to do, for the first few minutes of the day I did the celebrity and me photoshop project that was due a few days ago. Then I worked on recovering and remaking the files that couldn't be located, and make a dedicated folder for them on the usb stick so all of the files for now on should automatically show up in the project when I open it on any computer. After finding the missing clips and pictures I have continued to combine the rest of the clips and editing the simple scenes or editing some scenes to make it easier for me to understand in the future when working on it. After today I have finished working on the clips that are located in the bathroom. I am now working in the final sections of the house.  Here is the final parts of the movie that had missing clips to it that I was able to fix, I say able because there are still some I wasn't able to remember what went in the mi...

Day 7: 2020-10-07 Troubleshooting at home

Image
Day 7: 2020-10-07 Troubleshooting at home     Today Is the first time using Adobe premiere on my new laptop and also the first time working on my horror movie at home. My laptop is the dell inspiron 2-1 7000 series and what I thought could handle Adobe programs, but when I worked on my project I have experienced Screen tare, lagging, freezing, glitches and max throttle power (The playback resolution was set to 1/4).     When I opened up the program some clips was not able to be located which did set me back a couple of minutes locating the scenes and re-editing the clips.      On the clips that I edited, when playing on premiere with 1/4 resolution premiere would just freeze the frame and lag up to 4 seconds until it responds to the keyboard and pauses the clip.     To fix this problem for next Wednesday I will attempt to use my old laptop that I do not use anymore due to other problems my Alienware 15 r4 which should be able ...
